Outriders

A new project with a new partner studio! This was my second with Square Enix as a publishing designer, and it was one I recommend we choose from the pitches we were looking at.

This project went through multiple evolutions and DNA redesigns. It was a pretty exciting project that always had things to do as it was so large.

  • Oversee the entire design side of the project from a high level

  • Identify areas that needed deeper dives and work them with our partner studio

  • Run weekly progress reviews on upcoming milestones

  • Monthly milestone reviews and feedback

  • Run monthly milestone progress reviews with studio execs at Square

  • Script reviews and rewrites to get the worldbuilding and characters right

  • Art reviews

  • Gameplay reviews ranging from gameplay pacing to specific mechanics like cover, character growth pacing, balance and variety of skills and abilities

  • Designed multiple systems for the game including collectible pets, end game prestige levelling, weapon and armor levelling schemes, and a story integrated sandbox style tutorial

  • DLC content planning
