Life Is Strange: Before the Storm

This project was very special to me. I had been working in the BAFTA winning Life is Strange series from the very beginning when Square viewed it on a visit to Don’t Nod.

It was very exciting to be setting out as a full publishing designer for the very first time in this franchise that I loved with a brand new studio that we hadn’t worked with before, Deck Nine.

As the publishing designer on this project I had a lot of things to do. You can see a list of the larger points to the left.

  • Oversee the entire design side of the project from a high level

  • Identify areas that needed deeper dives and work them with our partner studio

  • Maintain communications between Square Enix and Deck Nine

  • Run weekly progress reviews on upcoming milestones

  • Monthly milestone reviews and feedback

  • Run monthly milestone progress reviews with studio execs at Square

  • Constant script reviews for characterizations, story flow, plot, making sure the special moments landed right, and lots of other small script related things

  • Art reviews

  • Puzzle and gameplay reviews ranging from gameplay pacing to complexity and fun
